Christmas without Rudolf? Hard to imagine. Christmas with Rudolf singing opera? Now that we have to see. The most famous reindeer in the world has made a big decision: he’s tired of spending every Christmas at the front of Santa’s sleigh, lighting the way with his red nose. Enough is enough!

Rudolf has artistic ambitions. He wants applause. He wants spotlights. He wants costumes. And above all, he wants to become… a TENOR. Not just any tenor. He dreams of grand operas, huge stages, bouquets and an audience shouting ‘Bravo, Rudolf!’ before he has even finished his final note. There’s just one small problem. We don’t know if he can sing. And there’s a slightly bigger one: Christmas is coming and Santa needs him on the job. But Rudolf won’t hear a word of it. The big preparations for his new career begin.

In come music teachers, trying to make him a worthy successor to Enrico Caruso. Tailors arrive to make the grand costume for the premiere. Shoemakers take on the extremely difficult problem of a formal shoe for… four hooves. There are rehearsals, then more rehearsals and, when nothing goes the way it should, the… un-rehearsals begin. Rudolf sings. He sings again. He tries one more time. The elves are in a flap. The Christmas preparations have fallen behind. The presents are waiting. The sleigh is waiting. The children of the whole world are waiting. And Rudolf is doing his vocal exercises. Until the one who was bound to turn up sooner or later appears.

And then a very serious question has to be settled: will Rudolf become a great tenor, or will he go back to his place at the sleigh? And might there be a way to fit both into one really good Christmas story?

‘Rudolf the Tenor’ is a bright, comic Christmas musical full of music, songs, dance, colourful costumes, puppets, surprises and non-stop participation from the children. Santa’s world comes to life in front of them: reindeer, elves, presents, festive preparations and a Rudolf who has decided to turn everything upside down just a few days before the big night. The children aren’t just spectators. They help the heroes, answer, sing, dance and step right into the game of the performance. Because a Christmas celebration is much more fun when nobody has to sit still in their chair.

The performance has been designed especially for the Christmas season and can be the main event of a school or children’s celebration. It is staged at the theatre, but it also travels to your own venue: to schools, municipalities, cultural centres, associations, company parties and event venues. The set is flexible and travels with the performance, so that any venue can be transformed, for a little while, into a small Christmas theatre. We take care of adapting the performance and its technical needs, so that the organisers can focus on what really matters to them: the celebration and the children.

And when the story comes to an end, the fun can carry on with music, dancing and Christmas spirit. Just one word of warning: if you hear a reindeer doing vocal exercises behind the door, don’t worry.
