A Children’s Party at the Theatre

Our children’s parties aren’t an ordinary celebration that is simply hosted in a theatre. They are designed from the start around the experience of theatre. The children watch a performance, join in the drama games, play, improvise, use their imagination and discover, for a little while, what it means to be not just facing a stage but inside its world.

And of course there’s a party. With friends, music, food, cake, laughter and everything a child expects from their birthday.

It’s just that here with us, in the middle of the celebration, there’s also a theatre.

This is exactly the philosophy we’ve followed for 42 years: entertainment that feeds children’s minds can have substance without ever ceasing, even for a moment, to be fun. For us, a party is an event that is entertaining and enriching, and educational too. And that doesn’t mean a ‘lesson’. It means play that awakens the child’s imagination, cooperation, expression and curiosity.

Aeroplio Theatre has been creating performances for children since 1985. On stage, mythology, world literature and traditional fairy tales meet themes that matter directly to children: painting, our oral tradition, respect for others, our relationship with the environment, living together. At Christmas and Carnival, the programme also takes on a theme of its own.

Your child’s party and the performance are planned each time according to the children’s ages, the number of guests and the family’s needs. Working together with you, we take care of all the practical arrangements: from the invitations and the food to the cake, the drama games and the little details that usually turn a birthday into… a full-time job for parents.

You come to celebrate. And on that day we don’t just give you a table or a room. A whole theatre becomes your home, and you become its hosts.

Parents can watch the performance with the children, meet up with their friends, eat and enjoy the celebration without the stress of getting everything ready or the tidying up that follows.

Each event is organised individually, and the price package is set according to the total number of children and adults and the family’s choices. Our many years of experience allow us to suggest solutions that are lovely and practical, without unnecessary expense.

Parties take place every Saturday and Sunday, in the morning and early afternoon, alongside the programme of children’s performances. They can also be arranged on public holidays and during the festive seasons.

Topos Allou Theatre is a welcoming, warm, renovated neoclassical building from 1924, which has been home to our performances for young and old since 2000.

And for a few hours, it can become the theatre of just one child. Yours.
